What's new and coming to Walt Disney World, late 2026 into 2027

Every big change at Walt Disney World right now: what opened in 2026, the holidays, what's closing for refurbishment, and the new lands, rides and resort on the way.

2026 has been one of the busiest years Walt Disney World has had in a long time, and 2027 is lining up to be bigger. Here's everything that matters for a trip in the next year, as of late October 2026.

Already open: the 2026 class

  • Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets reopened at Hollywood Studios on May 26, 2026, with the Muppets taking over from Aerosmith.
  • Soarin' Across America, a new film over American landmarks for the country's 250th birthday, opened at EPCOT the same day. Disney calls it limited-time but hasn't said when it ends.
  • Bluey's Wild World opened at Animal Kingdom in the old Rafiki's Planet Watch area. Entry is by virtual queue only.
  • Big Thunder Mountain came back May 3 with new track, new trains and a lower 38-inch height requirement.
  • The Walt Disney Studios replaced Animation Courtyard at Hollywood Studios, and the indoor Magic of Disney Animation opened September 14.

The holidays

The holiday season runs November 13, 2026 to January 6, 2027. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is on 25 nights from November 8 to December 22, and several nights are already sold out. Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios runs 15 nights from November 7 to January 5. EPCOT's Festival of the Holidays follows Food & Wine, which wraps up November 21.

Closing for a while

  • Disney Skyliner: down for about a week in late January 2027, with other transportation provided.
  • Rose & Crown at EPCOT closes January 11, 2027 for a refurbishment that runs much of the year; Scat Cat's Club at Port Orleans French Quarter has been closed since October 6.
  • Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress closed in July and returns in late spring 2027 with new scenes and a Walt Disney figure.

Coming in 2027

  • Disney Lakeshore Lodge, the newest Disney Vacation Club resort on Bay Lake, opens July 1, 2027.
  • Tropical Americas replaces DinoLand at Animal Kingdom, with an Indiana Jones ride, an Encanto ride and a carousel. Disney says 2027, no date yet.
  • Monsters, Inc. land at Hollywood Studios starts opening in phases in 2027; the door coaster comes later.
  • EPCOT's Festival of the Arts runs January 15 to March 1, 2027, and Flower & Garden March 10 to May 31.

Further out, no dates yet

Cars-themed Piston Peak is being built where the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island were, and Villains Land got its official name at D23 in August. EPCOT is getting its first big Spaceship Earth update in nearly 20 years and a new Imagination ride bringing back Dreamfinder and Figment. A fourth Magic Kingdom ferryboat, the first new one since 1976, is expected in 2027.

Before you book

Prices went up on October 6: Annual Passes by as much as $120, and peak one-day tickets for late 2027 now reach $229. If the resort you want is sold out for your dates, it may not stay that way: rooms come back when other guests change their plans. Mouseierge watches it for you and texts you the moment one opens.
